Affiliate 2026

Clicks were coming in. Registrations stayed at zero.

Referral clicks kept coming in, but registrations stayed at zero. The cause wasn't our writing — it was the sign-up screen itself, still in English. The story behind the July 24, 2026 fix.

The zero before a monthly report

2 / 9
Click counts kept climbing. Registrations stayed at zero.
I was checking the numbers the way I do before writing a monthly report for our partners. One row had a slightly higher click count than usual. I scrolled to the registrations column. Zero. I assumed I'd misread it. Still zero.
💡 The number wasn't telling us anything about reader intent

The cause wasn't our writing

✍️
Doubting our own content — the angle, the audience fit — is the usual first move
🔗
But this time we landed on something simpler: we had never once clicked our own referral link ourselves
💡 We'd only ever checked the part before the click
4

We had reviewed the landing page many times

🇯🇵
kingfin-jp.com had been localized into Japanese early — the site, the blog, the referral pages
👀
We'd checked the page that sends people there. We'd never checked the one screen after it
✅ Confidence only ever covered the part before the click
5

We opened it, and it was in English

5 / 9
We'd localized the whole site. The sign-up screen stayed in English.
The email field, the password requirements, the button label — all in English. Not a translation-quality issue. A screen nobody had actually looked at.
⚠️ We'd considered the localization job finished — it wasn't

On July 24, 2026, that screen became Japanese

🗓️
kingfin.com/ja/ went live. Sign-up now completes entirely in Japanese with just an email and password
⏱️
We clicked through it ourselves to confirm. It takes a few minutes
✅ The last screen is finally in Japanese

What this changes

7 / 9
🔎
Some of the "clicks with no registrations" we'd seen across partners may not have been about reader intent at all
📩
If you started referring before July 24, 2026, the cause may not have been your readers, or your writing
💡 A zero doesn't prove your content didn't work
8

A checklist for clicking through your own link

8 / 9
1️⃣
Click your own link yourself, past the sign-up button, to the screen after it
2️⃣
Check for a language gap between the landing page and the form behind it
3️⃣
Don't assume it stays fixed. Recheck on a set schedule
4️⃣
Follow up with people you referred before the fix

Doubt your own words only after doubting the funnel

1
Don't assume low registrations are about your content until you've checked the last screen
2
Click your own referral link, all the way to the screen after the sign-up button
3
Since July 24, 2026, that sign-up screen completes entirely in Japanese
4
